Meet Sparky! He came to Kindred Souls Foundation on referral from our friends at Benton County Canine Control in Kennewick, WA. Animal Control Officers found Sparky completely matted with maggot infested fecal burns and many lumps on his body. Once shaved, the largest ‘lump’ on his side looked even more astounding. Biopsies revealed soft tissue sarcoma.
Our veterinarians agreed that Sparky would feel so much better if his tumor was de-bulked, so we opted to pursue surgery. A 1.02lb tumor was removed from his little 20lbs body! It could not be removed completely due to its location, but the bulk removal has allowed him to have better range of motion and be more comfortable in his daily life.
Sparky continues to amaze us with his resiliency and love for life! Despite medical issue that continue to ‘pop up’, he recovers and shows us that he still has a lot of life in him. He has been diagnosed with renal disease, allergic bronchitis, an adrenal mass, elevated liver enzymes, and most recently pancreatitis. Yet, his appetite is good and he remains active and social!
Due to Sparky’s inspirational quality of life status, we will continue to provide him with the medical care he needs. Please consider donating to Sparky’s medical fund. He deserves to live the rest of his days in comfort.
